Fairy tale endings do happen in the land of fashion. ENTERTAINMENT: Mad Decent Block Party Fashion
Saturday, August 21st turned out to be a mad decent time. The Mad Decent Block Party rolled into Chicago after hitting events in Philadelphia, NY and LA where the music lineup included: Kid Sister, Willy Joy, Maluca, Bosco Delrey and Paul Devro to name a few. The closed down street in front of The Hideout housed a very, can I say again, VERY eccentric crowd of hipsters, music obsessed and even spotted a You tube star known as The world's best dancer from Lollapalooza (and for the fashion record, he was wearing the same shirt.) PrivyDoll did take note of some fashion highlights between drinking PBR and Champagne behind the stage. Maluca, one of the baddest girls I have ever met stole the show with her edgy pop/ragaee/funky style. Pictured to the left her style included short jean shorts, a super cropped plaid shirt with exposed black bra and black platform shoes. Bosco Delrey was next and his Salvador Dali painted motorcycle jacket was a fashion highlight.
Check out the some of my favorite fashions in the crowd:

Ask: Skin Care Guru: Skin Care Not to leave at Home
Privydolls are jetsetters and as if traveling isn't hard enough these days, we all face the, 'what kind of skin care products do I pack?' dilemma. We have our routines at home, but as soon as it has to be combined in one small bag it becomes a deal or no deal moment to see what items make it into the bag. We have all been there when we have brought our entire medicine cabinet and spent $50 to check our bag to do so. Lets not do that again! We sat down with skincare guru, Daniela who also happens to have her own skin care line to see what she suggests a Privydoll should do while traveling. We were dying to know the top products we shouldn't leave home without. Daniela suggests:

What To bring on the plane :
- 1oz spray bottle filled with alcohol-free toner to spray on 5 minutes before your flight
- Sample size hydrating serum to apply over toner while it's still wet on your skin
- Eye drops so there won't be such a difference between your skin and your eyes
- Petroleum-free pot lip balm (not a stick) applied after licking your lips
What To stuff in your luggage :
- Gel or cream cleanser in a tube, no bar soap
- Spray alcohol-free toner, no need for cotton
- Sunscreen in a tube (make sure it's non-clogging!) so you can carry it in your purse
- Nighttime lotion in a spill-proof jar
- Liquid makeup remover so you can use it with your fingers if necessary
- Snack-size ziplock bag with cotton rounds cuz you really should use those to remove your eye makeup. If you use those remover wipe things they can leave a film.
- Nail file. Trust me..

ENTERTAINMENT: Glamorama Recap
Fashion. Magic and Music collided last Friday when the Chicago Theater hosted the annual Macy's Passport Presents: Glamorama. A night full of fall preview included runway shows from Tommy Hilfiger, Jean Paul Gaultier, Madonna's Material Girl Collection, Just Cavalli, Marc Jacolbs, Hugo Boss and Sonia Rykel were some of the crowd's favorites. Elaborate lighting, themed music and choreographed models had PrivyDoll on her feet. The Tommy Hilfiger collection included his usual statements pieces of plaid, trenches and khaki. Sweaters, and legwarmers along with riding boots wrapped up the seventies psychedelic theme for his Fall 2010 collection.
Soon after Tommy, Hugo Boss's collection of beautiful men, oh wait they were wearing great clothes too, came out with a man of mystery theme. Fur, suiting and trenches rounded out the collection of menswear.
Another favorite of the night was a showcase dance presentation with kids of all ages modeling Madonna's line, Material girl sold exclusively at Macy's. The kids danced to a Madonna tribute collage of songs while the girls in the group rocked Madonna's teen line.
The show wrapped up with Just Cavalli and Felina lingerie. The fur and 1970's inspiration came through in both of these line's presentations. Strawberry fields played and male and female models sported the classic Cavalli floral and casual
The fun didn't stop with the fashion, with an acoustic performance by Eric Hutchinson and Macy Gray followed with covering her 90's hit, Try, the fashionable crowd hit the streets to continue the party at the Macy's on State st. for the after party. A candy bar, photo booths and makeup stations allowed the crowd to be photographed and have fun while mingling over energy drink bars and buffet lined tables while hula hooped women danced on the dance floor. What a lovely night where the best dressed Chicagoans came out to celebrate fashion and raise money for the Ronald McDonald House.

ENTERTAINMENT: Glamorama Red Carpet

Office Max sponsored a unique element this year where local designers competed to design dresses made from office supplies. We adored the dress that Raina Hein from Top Model cycle 14 wore on the red carpet. The paperclips and wires were not noticeable on the sweetheart neckline black dress.

ENTERTAINMENT: Custo Barcelona Show Wrap Up
A little rain wont stop Chicago fashionistas aka Privydolls, in my book away from a fashion show. Custo Barcelona, known for their eccentric patterned frocks which are headquartered in Barcelona showcased an amazing show on Friday at the beautiful, Peggy Notebaert Nature Musuem in Chicago. The three hundred socialites crowded the runway to view the Summer/Fall 2010 collection. If you missed the celebration of color, you can look forward to another show produced, and promoted again by Funky Couture. You can assume the next show will be at another fashionable venue. Check the website back for updates! PrivyDolls can find Custo Barcelona frocks at their Water tower place store or online. Below are some of my favorite looks of the night!

INSIDER INTERVIEW: Ornamental Things Jewelry
PrivyDolls are always on the prawl for a 'privy find' and you never know where you will find it. I am excited to share with you an adorable line but a designer that uses amazing trimmings to create timeless pieces. Pitchfork this year reinvented my love for Robyn and introduced me to Ornamental Things. I caught up with the designer to learn more about the fabulous line. Enjoy this great site dolls! Natalie is nice enough to offer PrivyDoll readers 15% off with coupon code: PRIVYDOLL.
Label/Company Name: Ornamental Things
Name: Natalie Tischler
3 words to describe your label: Romantic, pretty and wearable
In your opinion what is next season’s trend? And how do you incorporate that in jewelry?
I am loving all the dark, moody, monochromatic colors in fashion this year. I think I have carried that through with my current line because I have a lot of dark brass chains with rather Gothic pendants like the Night Flight necklace.
Your line is so unique, old meets new: do you stick to trends and collections?
I try to make jewelry that is classic enough to wear for years but I know that my work is informed by what I see out in the world, on television and in fashion magazines.
What are your favorite materials to use? And where do you find most of the unique trimmings you use?
I use a lot of brass. I also love to use oxidized sterling silver and gold fill. The charms and findings I use are sourced from many different places. I travel a lot for work and for pleasure so where ever I go, I look for a bead shop, warehouse or flea market to find my components. I also love to use vintage dead stock supplies when I can find them but they are getting more and more rare.
Favorite place for brainstorming and day dreaming: In my backyard at magic hour.
What kind of press/marketing/celeb spottings has your line received? Diana Krall purchased one of one of my one-of-a-kind vintage locket necklaces from a store here in Austin. I sold a necklace with an antique keyhole and recycled chains on it to Erykah Badu at the Austin City Limits music festival. And, I have sold a couple of necklaces to Janeane Garofalo at two different craft fairs. I really admire all of these women so I am really honored.
I have had my jewelry featured on Daily Candy and in Bust Magazine as well as some local Austin magazines like Tribeza and Rare. I’ve also had some great blog mentions here and there.
What fashion line does your Ornamental Things girl wear to complement the line?
My jewelry works with everything from vintage and thrift store finds to cute dresses from Anthropologie or Betsy Johnson or a pair of Acne jeans with a tank top.
And Lastly, spill the Privy find:
Ornamental Things is available online at www.OrnamentalThings.com, at art and music festivals around the U.S. and in stores. See my website for details on shows and stores.

Fashion Radar: Lollapalooza Fashion Recap
PrivyDoll Came, listened and saw some amazing music and fashion at Chicago's Lollapalooza. Every year this music festival grows and although it drives people from all over to hear their favorite bands and find your new favorite, there may be one thing that over shadows the music: the fashion. I cannot forget to mention the food this year. This was not your normal festival food. Some of Chicago's top restaurants participated thanks to Graham Elliot himself who had a tent and provided lobster corn dogs. Other way above average food included treats from Elate, Sunda and Charlie Trotters.
I fell in love with Dragonette, and the lead singer with her high pitched quirky voice and catchy music was a perfect fit for her adorable nude colored, oversized top which had cut outs in the front and back with fringe that swung as she jumped around the stag. She gets my fashion thumbs up for Lolla!
Additional Fashion trends included lots of lace tops, bras exposed under the nude or black lace tanks with shorts. The hipsters were out in full force and the picture below captures some of the fashions seen. Acid wash jeans for men and women and colorful high tops, belted jean shorts and chained scarves rounded out the trends in the, what felt like, 150 degree days.

INSIDER INTERVIEW: Red Carter Swimwear
If you don't know Red, let me introduce you to one of my favorite swim wear designers, Red Carter. His line is sexy and head turning. The one pieces are not your mom's one pieces. They are for yacht lounging, jetsetting and making a statement. PrivyDoll caught up with Red to learn what inspires his line and what is next for this Miami bred designer. Make sure your next suit has a signature red button on the bum!
3 words to describe your label: Sexy, great fit, great fabrics
In your opinion what is next season’s trend? And how do you incorporate that in swimwear? There are many trends in fashion right now; the trend that I like most right now is quality. Great fabric, great fit and great construction are the keys to taking a trend and making it a classic. I always like nautical looks, but the ethnic trends and bright colors with black are always a hit as well.
What is your inspiration for this season/line entirely? This year the these of the collection is “from pop art to high art”, I used many art influences to address fashion trends that are happening in the fashion market.
What are your favorite materials to use? And what sets your line apart from other lines? I like to use European base goods a lot. But it is fun to come up with original prints as well, and print them on quality fabrics. I love to use extra life lycra which is a fiber that helps the swimwear have better color fastness and elasticity over time. I think what sets my collection apart from others is having a keen eye for details… every suit has a red button sewn on the back.
Favorite place for brainstorming and daydreaming: I love going to the standard hotel here in Miami Beach and relaxing by the pool. It is an oasis to me.
Female entrepreneur of the year award should go to: Mara Hoffman
What kind celebrity spotings has your line received?
We have been on many celebrities bodies from Kim Kardashian to Rihanna over the years. The best celebrities to work with are the ones who have a good attitude about their bodies and try no to get too much stuff for free. I love Jessica Simpson; she is just a real woman and a great role model.
If you went bikini shopping with an average girl, what single piece of advice would you give her? Have a martini before you start to try on suits.
And Lastly, spill the Privy find:(Many suits are on sale on the below sites!!!)
